How much does a fishing trip to Iceland cost, and what’s included?
It depends on the package. Further up the page, you’ll find an example of a guided weekend trip for four people with four days of fishing in northern Iceland, including flights, transfers, a lodge, fishing licenses, a guide, and all meals. A simpler package with a cabin, self-catering, and a rental car will cost less. Get in touch and we’ll put together a quote based on your preferences.
What fish species are found in Iceland’s rivers?

Trout, Arctic char, sea trout, and salmon. You can fish for wild trout in rivers such as Laxá í Aðaldal and Mýrarkvísl, Arctic char in lakes such as Langavatn and Skjálftavatn, sea trout in Litlaá, and salmon in the classic salmon rivers. Truly large trout can be found in Þingvallavatn in the south.

The season runs from April to October. Dry-fly fishing for trout is at its best in summer when the hatches are underway. Sea trout run in the spring and again in late summer and autumn, and in Mýrarkvísl, Arctic char enter the river from late July.

Do I need a guide, or can I fish on my own?
Do I need a guide, or can I fish on my own?
Both options work. We can arrange the trip with a guide every day, with a guide for a few days and independent fishing the rest of the time, or entirely without a guide, with a rental car and self-catering. A guide often makes a big difference the first time you fish a new water.
Is there Wi-Fi on site?
Is there Wi-Fi on site?
It depends on where you’re staying. Most lodges include Wi-Fi, while connectivity may be more limited in cabins and remote areas. If you want to make sure you have coverage, we recommend an eSIM or local SIM card. We’ll let you know what to expect when we put together your trip.

Dry flies and light nymphs are often key techniques. Much of it comes down to reading the water, finding active fish, and adapting your technique to the weather, water levels, and hatches.
